Pick-Up & Delivery Info
Truck Delivery
Central Sod harvests and delivers sod daily with our fleet of delivery trucks. We offer the best freight rates around! The best part is that every truck is equipped with a forklift that can drop the sod wherever you need it (as long as the forklift can get there).
How long does it take to deliver?
We can usually deliver within 48 hours, and sometimes sooner! You can select your desired delivery date on the checkout page so that you know when to expect it.
How is the sod taken off the truck?
All of our trucks carry a forklift mounted on the back. We can use it to put the sod wherever you need it, as long as the forklift can get there. The forklift:
A general rule of thumb is that if you could easily get a passenger car there, the forklift can also get there. It is always up the driver's discretion if he is unsure if the forklift will make it do a given area.
Can other products be delivered with sod on the same truck?
Yes, other bagged and bulk bagged products can be sent along with your sod, usually with no additional fee. However, loose products like bulk mulch and topsoil would have to be delivered by a separate dump truck.
I am not sure that a large truck can make it down my street... Is this a problem?
Very rarely is there somewhere that we cannot deliver to! We have very experienced drivers and several different sized trucks. In the event that even a small truck cannot get down your street, we can always park out on the main road and deliver each pallet by forklift!
What if I need to reschedule?
No problem! Just call our office at 630-904-1017. We do ask that you call at least 24 hours in advance though, since load schedules are generally made the day prior. Changes with less than 24 hours notice can sometimes be made but we cannot guarantee it!
Customer Pick Up
We have several pick up locations in the area where customers can pick up sod after purchasing online! All sod is cut to order and is either loaded by hand or with a forklift depending on how much you are picking up.
How much can my car / SUV / pickup truck carry?
Each roll typically weighs about 35 lbs but can be heavier if it has rained recently. This means that each 60 roll pallet will weigh around 2000 lbs. If you would like to pick up full pallets we recommend at least a 3/4 ton pickup truck, as these trucks are typically rated around 3000 lbs of bed capacity.
Always check your owner manual if you are unsure of what you can safely haul!
Do I have to pick it up all at once?
No, you can make several trips if you cannot take your entire order in one trip.
